My Macbook Pro is now on eBay!After only breaking in my new Macbook Pro 15", Apple releases another update. If you recall (which you would if I hadn't did a mindwipe on my blog), I had purchased mine on the release day of the new Santa Rosa models. It's so nice having one machine that can do everything that I want it to do: allow me to be in a unix-like environment with the commerical apps I still rely on (Dreamweaver, for example), while still being able to boot into windows to play Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare with cranked up settings. Sure this thing isn't the biggest and baddest notebook gaming rig on the planet, but my model with the GeForce 8600GT 255MB has been plenty fast for every game I've thrown at it - Crysis, Gears of War, and Bioshock being just a few.
My testing with VMware Fusion has been great. It certainly helped that I outfitted the laptop with 4GB RAM as soon as I bought it - giving me the additional memory to dedicate to my Virtual Appliances. I love being able to use the bootcamp partition, thus only needing one copy of windows on the machine for everything I need to do (in windows, that is),
It's hard to believe that it's only been 4 months since I "switched" my laptop, but it's been relatively painless. Two big sticking points for me that would seal the deal:
- Google would hurry up on a native Picasa for Mac
- Roboform needs to hurry up and hire that Mac developer they've been searching for for over a year. 1passwd/1password is very functional, especially given that it's only been in development for a year or so, but it's not Roboform.
